The due date and time for Part 2 of Milestone 1 has been extended for everyone to FRI 2021-09-09 @ 11:55 PM in consideration of multiple factors. Please use the extra time to adaquately address the comments provided to you by the instructor.

8.2. Bookkeeping

Graduate and Honors Students: Two students registered for the “MON 11-15 (2)” paper presentation time slot; however, only one student may be assigned to each time slot. It is your responsibility to resolve the issue: discuss this with the other student who enrolled for that time slot, then let Dr. Cotterell know to remove from the slot.

8.3. Activity

8.3.1. Work Period

The remainder of the period will be used a project work period. Please take this time to meet with your Term Project group, see how everyone is doing, discuss any relevant changes to people’s schedules, and work on finishing Term Project: Milestone 1: Problem Proposal or discuss your plan for the next milestone.

  1. Meet with your Term Project group.

  2. Work on your project.

  3. After your meeting, individually report on your progress as described below in the “After Class” section.

Note

Although Milestone 2 has not been released yet, I’m letting you know here and now that it will involve, among other things, a stakeholder analysis and an analysis of existing solutions.

In your proposals you likely identified various stakeholders and existing solutions but made claims without justifying them (e.g., this is unusable, that is hard to read, people have trouble with that, etc.). In Milestone 2, you must provide supporting evidence for any claims you make. This evidence should come from convincing sources such as academic conferences, news reports, interviews, questionnaires, polls, etc.

8.3.2. After Class

  1. Before 11:55PM today, individually respond to the items below in a followup discussion to Piazza @25.

    1. What term project group are you in?

    2. Who attended your group meeting today?

    3. In your own words, provide a brief progress report for Milestone 1 or your planning for Milestone 2 that includes any challenges you or your group faced or face and how you have or will attempt to overcome them.

  2. Finish reading the Foundations module, continue reading the Usability module, and make sure you’re aware of current assignments and their due dates.
