Milestone 0: IRB Training

Introduction

This semester, you will be required to conduct human subjects research as part for your term project. All UGA research involving human research must first be approved by UGA’s IRB. Before the IRB will even consider reviewing your group’s IRB paperwork, all group members must complete complete a training course on ethics and procedures in human subjects research through UGA’s Professional Education Portal (PEP). This training is developed by the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI).

Important

If you do not complete this milestone, then you will not be able to complete your term project.

Instructions

  1. Login to UGA’s Professional Education Portal (PEP).

  2. Using the search box in the top-right corner of the screen, search for, “Social & Behavioral Research,” then choose the training course titled Social & Behavioral Research.

    Note

    There will be many training courses that start with, “Social & Behavioral Research.” For this assignment, you only need to do the one that is titled only, “Social & Behavioral Research.”

  3. On the course details page for Social & Behavioral Research, click on the, “Launch,” button, then complete all the required modules and associated quizzes. A passing score of 80% or better is needed for successful completion of the course. If you do not complete all the required modules in one session, then you can re-enter the course as needed to complete the training.

    Technical Assistance

  4. Once you have completed the course, find your completion certificate and save it.

    1. Access your PEP transcripts.

    2. Change the filter from Active to Completed.

    3. Next to Social & Behavioral Research, click, “View Completion Page.”

    4. Click, “View My Certificate.”

    5. Save the certificate PDF.

  5. Submit your completion certificate PDF on eLC under the assignment titled, “Milestone 0: IRB Training,” before the due date.

Grading

This assignment is pass/fail.
